Netflix has unveiled the main trailer for 10DANCE, offering the clearest look yet at the film’s charged blend of rivalry, desire, and competitive artistry before its global premiere on December 18. Adapted from Inouesatoh’s award-winning Kodansha manga, the upcoming drama leans into the emotional extremes of professional dance—where every step is a show of skill, pride, and increasingly, connection.
The film reunites Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida on screen for the first time in nearly eight years, casting them as two elite dancers who share not only the same name—Shinya—but a relentless drive to dominate the floor. Takeuchi, making his Netflix film debut, plays Shinya Suzuki, Japan’s reigning Latin Dance champion and a perfectionist with tunnel-vision focus.
Machida steps in as Shinya Sugiki, the world’s No. 2 Ballroom champion, whose disciplined elegance masks a sharp competitive edge. Sugiki disrupts Suzuki’s carefully controlled world with a bold challenge: compete together in the “10-Dance”, a demanding discipline that fuses both Latin and Ballroom styles into what is often described as a “gorgeous triathlon.”
Credit: NetflixDirected by Keishi Otomo (Rurouni Kenshin, The Legend & Butterfly), the film surrounds its leads with an ensemble that deepens the story’s emotional and competitive stakes. Shiori Doi appears as Aki Tajima, Suzuki’s fierce Latin partner, while Anna Ishii plays Fusako Yagami, Sugiki’s poised Ballroom partner. The cast also includes Shinya Hamada, Oshiro Maeda, Nadiya Bychkova, Susie Trayling, and Pasquale La Rocca.
The trailer wastes no time establishing its rhythm—quick, precise spins, grounded footwork, and a simmering tension that never quite releases. It cuts between the glare of competition stages and the quieter hum of rehearsal rooms, where a once-straightforward rivalry begins to tilt into something more intimate. The months of physical training between Takeuchi and Machida are unmistakable; every frame carries a mix of technical sharpness and charged stillness, the kind of chemistry that speaks long before their characters do. Even the key art leans into that push and pull, freezing the two dancers mid-motion as though suspended between collision and surrender.
Behind the scenes, the film brings together a seasoned creative team: screenplay by Tomoko Yoshida and Otomo, music by Masaru Yokoyama, cinematography by Tatsunosuke Sasaki, production design by Eri Sakushima and Takuro Kato, costume and character design by Isao Tsuge, editing by Tomomi Kikuchi, VFX supervision by Tetsuya Shiraishi, sound design by Kazuyuki Ishii, recording by Takeshi Kawamata, lighting by Gaku Suzuki, and casting by Mai Sugiyama.
Ai Shimoda serves as Ballroom Dance Supervisor. The project is produced by Netflix through Episcope Inc., led by producers Takako Miyauchi and Kota Ishizuka, with Tomo Koizumi as line producer.
10DANCE begins streaming worldwide on Netflix on December 18, 2025. Watch the trailer below:
