Latin Singer DELAROSA Dead At 22 In Apparent 'Ambush-Style' Shootout

Up-and-coming Latin singer Maria De la Rosa has tragically died in what authorities are calling an “ambush-style” shootout.

The 22-year-old, who goes by the stage name DELAROSA, was reportedly out in the San Fernando Valley with two pals– a male and a female — over the weekend, per TMZ. While they were in the car, it’s reported two Hispanic men wearing gray hoodies allegedly ran up and opened fire into the vehicle. De la Rosa was fatally struck and rushed to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead. So, so horrifying.

The two male suspects are said to be between the ages of 15-20 years old, per dispatch audio of the incident obtained by the outlet. De la Rosa’s friends who were in the car with her are said to have not been struck by any of the bullets, despite earlier reports stating they were. The dispatch audio also revealed the singer was shot in the abdomen.

Per the LAPD, the two suspects are still at large. They also revealed that they found 9mm bullets at the scene of the crime. De la Rosa’s family say they’re confident the police can find the shooters, as they allegedly have plenty of footage from the incident, including nearby Ring cameras.

The young musician was up-and-coming in the Latin music scene, with her most popular song being No me Llames, which she released this past August. Per one of her final Instagram posts, she was getting ready to release some new music, too.

Such a horrifying situation. We hope police are able to find her killers and bring her to justice. May Maria rest in peace.
