Latin Grammy Awards Winners 2025: Bad Bunny Clinches His First ‘Album of the Year’ Award

2 weeks ago 2

Bad Bunny seized the biggest win of his career on Thursday night, earning Album of the Year at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards for Debí Tirar Más Fotos—his first-ever victory in a general category and a milestone moment in the ceremony’s 26-year history. The Puerto Rican superstar, who entered the night with 12 nominations, became the most decorated artist of the evening, even as several top-category trophies momentarily slipped from his grasp.

The album, already a commercial and cultural force long before awards night, continued its sweep across the urban categories. “DtMF,” one of the project’s most critically praised tracks, soared to wins in Best Urban/Urban Fusion Performance and Best Urban Song, while “Voy A Llevarte Pa PR” captured Best Reggaeton Performance. Debí Tirar Más Fotos itself also triumphed as Best Urban Music Album, reaffirming its dominant footprint across Latin music’s most competitive genres.

Accepting the night’s final award, Bad Bunny centered the victory around his home island and the collaborators who shaped the record’s soundscape. “There are many ways to take pride in and defend our homeland, but we choose music,” he said onstage, thanking the featured artists across the project, including Chuwi, with whom he performed “Weltita” earlier in the broadcast.

For much of the night, it appeared Bad Bunny might walk away without a major-category win. Karol G claimed Song of the Year for her viral hit “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” while Alejandro Sanz took Record of the Year for “Palmeras En El Jardín,” which positioned him as one of the evening’s most celebrated veterans. But the final envelope shifted the narrative—handing the global star his first general-field Latin Grammy and closing the ceremony with one of its loudest ovations.
