Katy Perry’s Relationship With Justin Trudeau’s Son Revealed After His Mom Confessed She Was ‘Triggered’ by Her Ex’s ‘Public’ Romance

New relationships come with a lot of adjustments for both parties. This is particularly true when it’s a relationship between two people who have been married before and have children who are bound to have opinions about their new partners. It’s all part of what every parent has to navigate in a new romance. And Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are no exception.

But Perry might have an in with Trudeau’s son. New reports indicate that Perry is helping Trudeau’s son, Xander, with his music career. This comes after the teen released a rap video that was widely panned.

“Katy told him point-blank that every artist gets dragged. She wanted him to know she understands exactly how it feels,” a source told Rob Shuter’s Shuterscoop. Another insider added, “[Perry] connected him with producers and told him to keep working. She wants him to take the criticism seriously, but not personally.”

“She’s there as support, not a manager. She listens to his demos, but she also tells him when something doesn’t work… He feels safer with her in his corner.”

That’s quite a connection considering Perry and Trudeau have only been dating for a few months.

All of this comes after Trudeau’s ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire, appeared on the podcast “Arlene is Alone,” and discussed how she feels about the new relationship.  “You know, we’re human beings and stuff affects us. Normal,” she explained. “How you react to stuff is your decision. So, I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”

Grégoire was very candid about dealing with the public scrutiny, saying she’s “very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers.” But she also understands that “what I do with it is my decision. The woman I want to become through this is my decision.”

She also made it clear that part of healing is letting herself express her feelings without censoring how she might be perceiving something at one point or another. “I’ll let myself be disappointed by someone, I’ll let myself be angry, be sad,” she explained. “And I know for a fact how important it is, as a mental health advocate, to feel those emotions.”

And on the subject of her children, she confirmed Trudeau was very much involved. “I’m definitely not a single mom,” Grégoire said. “I have a partnership with a father who has such deep love and availability to his children.” And one who, it seems, is bringing his new partner into the dynamic as well.

Trudeau and Perry were first linked after the singer broke up with her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, in July 2025. They were seen having dinner together, and then Trudeau attended one of Perry’s concerts, but there was no confirmation about their relationship until they were seen holding hands outside the Crazy Horse in Paris for Perry’s birthday in October 2025.

Now, it seems like they’ve moved to a new stage. One that involves their families.
