Katy Perry is stronger than ever on heartbreak anthem ‘bandaids’

Pop sensation Katy Perry has released her brand new single ‘bandaids’, a powerful mid-tempo ballad about trying to heal after heartbreak.

‘bandaids’ marks Katy’s first single since the release of her 2024 album 143. The track, which came as a surprise to fans as the songstress is currently in the middle of her The Lifetimes Tour, was written by Katy along with Kiddo Ibañez, Justin Tranter, Sean Cook, Russ Chell, and Eren Cannata.

Embracing a more classic Katy sound, ‘bandaids’ is a relatable track about the breakdown of a relationship. While the pain has been unbearable, and she did everything she could to prevent the relationship ending, ultimately it was unfixable as attaching ‘bandaids over a broken heart’ can only temporarily solve the problem.

Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Bandaids over a broken heart

With that being said, ‘bandaids’ is a solid anthem which proves that Katy is still here and surviving (and thriving, in our eyes!). In fact, she acknowledges that the pain was worth it and would do it all over again in a heartbeat for what it’s given her – her daughter Daisy.

The track comes accompanied by a Final Destination inspired visual which sees Katy in a number of precarious situations. Directed by Christian Breslauer, the visual sees the singer face a number of near-death experiences including getting her hand caught in a sink garbage disposal, sawing off a branch that she’s sitting on, tripping on an escalator, and facing that infamous log truck from Final Destination 2.

‘bandaids’ marks the beginning of a new era for Katy, as hinted at towards the end of the video when the singer blows up a gas station which is playing ‘Woman’s World’, her previous release. If ‘bandaids’ is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.

Katy is currently in the middle of her The Lifetimes Tour. She recently completed a UK stint following stops across Mexico, the United States, Canada, Australia and Brazil. At the moment, she is on the European leg of the tour with dates in Spain to come, before she heads out to China, Japan and UAE before the end of the year.

‘bandaids’ is available to download and stream now.
